“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Micah 5:2
At my house, we have a Christmas movie problem. My wife loves made-for-TV romance movies, especially those on the Hallmark Channel, but I can’t stand them. Every year, she makes me watch It’s Christmas, Carol, Snowmance, and A Christmas Wedding Date.
This year, I decided enough was enough. I refuse to watch those Christmas movies. I am the man of the house. No matter what my wife says, I won’t watch those cheesy romantic movies...
So, last night, Amanda and I were watching A Shoe Addict's Christmas, and I had a thought -- the reason these romantic Christmas movies are so popular is that they have a miracle in the plot.
One movie is about a boy who hopes his parents will reunite. Another follows a merchant dreaming of keeping his business open. A third is about a woman longing for her soldier sweetheart’s return. Still another features a town needing a hero to “save Christmas.” People love these movies because everyone loves a miracle.
This desire for a miracle isn’t limited to the screen. In real life, many during the Christmas season find themselves wishing for their own miracle—not a scripted twist, but something true and much needed.
Maybe you are wishing for a job.
Maybe you are wishing for someone special to sit next to you on the couch.
Maybe you are wishing for your health to get better.
Maybe you are wishing for a prodigal to come home.
Whatever you are wishing for is real and important to you.
Just like today, two thousand years ago in Israel, people were hoping for a miracle. The Old Testament Prophets had prophesied that the Messiah would come. There was anticipation, yearning, and a hope that the Savior of the world would arrive… And He did.
The point is that the true miracle of Christmas is Jesus Christ. He was born, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again. This miracle is not just a story—it's the answer to the deepest need in your life. If you are looking for hope or change, turn to Jesus: repent, believe, and trust in Him. Through faith in Jesus, you receive the miracle of salvation.
Whatever miracle you need today, know that God already gave the greatest one—sending Jesus to save you and start a relationship with you. Accept Him and experience this miracle for yourself.
Your Christmas miracle is not just a wish—it's the real hope found in Jesus Christ, who is waiting for you to accept Him.
